Courtroom Preparation for the DRE

Course Description:
This course prepares Drug Recognition Experts (DREs) for courtroom testimony by focusing on the expectations, qualifications, and responsibilities of expert witnesses. Participants learn to organize case materials, review evidence, and effectively communicate findings under direct and cross-examination. The training emphasizes the importance of professional conduct, explains the different roles DREs may serve at trial, and outlines preparation strategies for challenges such as rebuttal testimony. Officers will strengthen their ability to articulate their expertise, uphold credibility, and be prepared for court.
