Course Description:
This course provides a framework for evaluating scientific research with a focus on studies related to alcohol and drug-impaired driving. It explains how to examine the components of a research study, including the abstract, methodology, results, and discussion. Learners will gain tools to identify study limitations, assess statistical significance, and recognize the influence of funding sources or sponsors. The course emphasizes understanding both the strengths and weaknesses of research and how to detect incomplete or biased reporting. It also outlines various study designs and methods used in impairment research.
