Data Driven Approaches to Impaired Driving Investigations

Course Description:
This course equips law enforcement officers with advanced techniques for detecting and evaluating impaired drivers. Participants will learn to enhance their observational skills during face-to-face interactions, use preliminary eye examinations in diverse conditions, and analyze drivers’ responses and behaviors to identify signs of impairment. The course also introduces efficient questioning strategies designed to challenge cognitive functions, assess multitasking abilities, and uncover inconsistencies in drivers’ accounts. Additionally, officers will explore how to apply data-driven insights, such as patterns in driving behaviors and time-of-day correlations, to prioritize enforcement efforts and make informed decisions. By mastering these methods, officers can perform more accurate, reliable, and efficient impaired driving investigations.
