Course Description:
This course provides guidance for Drug Recognition Experts (DREs) on producing clear, thorough, and legally sound reports. It emphasizes the purpose of report writing in protecting due process, supporting prosecutors, and ensuring admissibility of evidence. Learners are walked through the 13 key components of a DRE report, including location, witnesses, observations, clinical indicators, toxicology, and opinions. The course reinforces compliance with national and state standards, best practices for documenting evidence, and the importance of precise articulation to strengthen testimony and case outcomes. Participants gain practical strategies to improve accuracy, clarity, and professionalism in report writing.

Jennifer Knudsen

Jennifer Knudsen has been Colorado’s Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) for the Colorado District Attorneys’ Council since 2014. Her undergraduate degree is from the University of Denver. She then went to the University of Colorado School of Law where she earned a juris doctorate and certificate in taxation.
