Helen Chang, MS

Forensic Scientist III, Toxicology, Orange County Crime Lab

Helen Chang is currently a Forensic Scientist III for the Toxicology Section of the Orange County Crime Lab, CA. Helen’s primary focus is on research, method development, validation, and instrumentations. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry with a minor in Forensic Science and a Master of Science in Criminalistics from California State University, Los Angeles.

Helen is currently a member of the California Association of Toxicologists (CAT), California Association of Criminalists (CAC), American Association of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), and Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT). She is a committee member (since 2020) of the Professional Mentoring Program with the Society of Forensic Toxicologists.

Helen has presented in multiple conferences and webinars (Florida Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Program, CAC, CAT, AAFS, SOFT, VII International Conference on Novel Psychoactive Substances (NPS)) on various toxicology topics ranging from novel psychoactive substances to postmortem concentration of various compounds, and DUID. She has also published articles on ToxTalk addressing the NPS trends and multiple peer-reviewed articles focusing on postmortem toxicology.
