Meet Our Instructors

 Jolene Bierly is a Forensic Toxicologist with NMS Labs in Horsham, PA. As a private independent laboratory, NMS Labs provides certified and licensed clinical and forensic toxicological analysis to law enforcement agencies, medical examiners and coroners, medical centers, physicians, and attorneys. Ms. Bierly has worked in the field of forensic toxicology for over 10 years. Her employment history includes working for the New York State Police Crime Laboratory System (2013-2017) before joining NMS Labs where she has been employed as a toxicologist since 2017. She earned a Master of Science in Forensic Science degree from Arcadia University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Messiah College. Ms. Bierly is certified as a diplomat in Forensic Toxicology through the American Board of Forensic Toxicology (ABFT) and is an active member in the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT), the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), and the Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists (NEAFS). 

Ms. Bierly’s responsibilities include toxicological case review, expert testimony, authoring expert opinion reports, client communication and education for toxicological matters, litigation document review, and analytical specification preparation for laboratory tests. She has testified over 100 times in various jurisdictions for prosecution and defense. Ms. Bierly routinely presents research at scientific conferences in the areas of drugged-impaired driving (DUID) and postmortem toxicology. She has authored peer reviewed publications on postmortem toxicology and DUID including 11-Year Study of Fentanyl in Driving Under the Influence of Drugs Casework and Gabapentin in Drugged Driving Investigations.
